He is indeed a creative and gifted young true-blue, born and bred Singaporean groomed from MediaCorp (former SBC) to contribute to our nation’s Golden Jubilee celebration in 2015.  He grew up in Singapore to remember the fond nostalgic memories of a place called home.

Screening & Talk

There is nothing quite like catching up with friends, old and new, over a piping hot cup of coffee. Anchored by actor Edmund Chen, Ah Cai La Kopi is a 20-episode multilingual talk show that features the personal journeys and experiences of Singapore’s top local celebrities, personalities, businessmen and professionals.

The project was commissioned by the Singapore Memory Project (SMP) and supported by the SG50 Celebration Fund.

Edmund told the audience that his personal contribution of “Ah Cai La Kopi” with his original idea and concept to design the interview series for over a year.  He is the producer, director, script-writer and commentator to share this extraordinary masterpiece.

He is an actor, author and artist. Now, Edmund Chen (陈之财) also an archivist.

For over 20 years, he starred in Channel 8 dramas like Airforce (1988), Patrol (1989) and the 142-episode Double Happiness (2004-2005). But in recent years, Edmund Chen also wrote children’s books, designed stamps and became a Guinness World Record holder for “Longest Drawing by an Individual”.

Now, he takes on even more roles in Ah Cai La Kopi (ACLK), an online talk show where Ah Cai (Chen’s Chinese name is Zhi Cai), interviews local personalities. Now into its third season, Chen is planning to interview 50 people in conjunction with SG50.
